Every Monaviro garment arrives with its own care instructions. Before you do anything, check the sewn-in label inside your dress and any packaging notes. The guidance below covers common situations for embellished evening wear, but your specific garment's label always takes priority.
After You Take It Off
Evening gowns with beading, sequins, mesh overlays, and structured elements need a moment of attention right after wear. Lay the garment flat on a clean surface and inspect it for loose beads, pulled threads, or small snags in sheer panels. If you notice any, address them before the issue worsens.
Use a soft, dry cloth to gently blot away surface moisture from skin contact at the neckline, underarms, or waist. Do not rub embellished areas—beads, rhinestones, and dimensional appliqués can loosen under friction.
Handling Stains and Spills
If a spill occurs during an event, blot the area immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth. Press down gently; do not drag the fabric sideways, which can push liquid deeper into layers or dislodge beadwork.
For unknown stains or anything that has set into the lining or mesh overlay, stop and photograph the area. Contact a qualified dry-cleaning specialist who works with heavily embellished formalwear rather than experimenting with household cleaners on delicate surfaces.
Protecting Beads, Sequins, and Appliqués
Many Monaviro gowns feature hand-placed beadwork, sequin patterns, or dimensional floral appliqués on sheer mesh or tulle. These elements are decorative and structural—they are not designed to withstand abrasion.
- Keep embellished surfaces away from rough bag straps, jewelry clasps, and textured upholstery during wear.
- When removing the gown, support the weight of beaded sections rather than pulling them over your head or arms.
- If a single bead or sequin loosens, do not tug it free. Note the location and ask a tailor or embellishment specialist to re-secure it.
Caring for Sheer Mesh and Tulle Panels
Sheer overlays, cape elements, and illusion panels are the most snag-prone parts of a formal gown. Before storing or transporting your dress, check that no sharp edges (zipper teeth, ring, belt buckle) are in contact with the mesh.
When laying the gown flat, smooth out creases in the mesh with your hands rather than pressing them with heat or steam unless the garment's care label explicitly permits it.
Storing Your Gown
Structured silhouettes—mermaid hems, corset boning, draped bodices—can lose their shape if compressed or hung incorrectly.
- For gowns with boning or structured bodices, hang on a padded hanger that supports the shoulder line without creating indentations.
- For floor-length gowns with trains or capes, consider folding loosely along natural seam lines and storing in a breathable garment bag large enough to avoid creasing the embellished areas.
- Keep stored garments away from direct sunlight, which can fade dyes in satin, velvet trim, and lining fabrics over time.
- Do not store in plastic bags for extended periods; trapped moisture can affect lining and metal-based embellishments.
Zipper and Closure Care
Concealed back zippers on fitted gowns can catch lining fabric if forced. Before closing, align the fabric edges evenly and zip slowly. If the zipper resists, stop—do not pull harder. A small amount of paraffin wax on the teeth can help a zipper glide, but avoid getting wax on visible fabric or embellishments.
When to Seek Professional Help
Take your gown to a specialist who handles formalwear and embellished garments if you encounter:
- Multiple loose or missing beads, sequins, or appliqués
- Tears in mesh, tulle, or lining
- Stains that persist after gentle blotting
- Distorted boning, warped shoulder structure, or hem damage
